Hi, my name is George Wrench, I am a self-taught Web Developer specialising in HTML, CSS and Javascript. I am passionate about building stylish interactive websites, games and applications, looking to learn and improve whilst maintaining the highest of standards within my work. Currently I’m working on using and interacting with Rest API’s within the REACT library and learning more about different types of testing.

I’ve created many applications and websites to a high standard using techniques including local storage, a mock Rest API using JSON server and also REACT Hooks. I am proud of what I’ve managed to achieve so far and am now looking to take my skills to the next level by being able to work as part of a team, not just with my close friend Google!

Tetris Game

This Project is a take on the popular game Tetris. It was built mainly using various Javascript practices such as.. IF statements, for loops, forEach loops and array methods including map, some, contains, add, splice, concat and join. The blocks are controlled using key codes enabling them to rotate, move left, move right and move down. Every time a line is complete the score increasing by 10. By changing the timerID using the setInterval method I was able to create new Levels when certain scores were achieved, increasing the speed of the blocks falling each time. I added a High Score table by setting Local Storage (chrome) using the getItem/setItem methods to log the top 5 scores in an array this enabling me to store and fetch score data to display whilst on the website and revisiting it. This project is still a work in progress next I intend to add Music, a pause button, super drop option and much much more as I improve on my javascript skills.

Task Tracker

Being new to react I used an online tutorial to create this task tracker, it gave me a good understanding of function based components in react and how it all works. With the help of the tutorial I added a back end to the project using the JSON server package to create a mock-like rest Api. Using the knowledge I had gained I added a date picker, time picker and notes section to the tracker. I also styled the tracker using my own colour scheme. I have an idea to adapt this project using what i have learned to create a weekly food planing app, using a recipe api.

Art Website

I decided to build my Dad a little art website. I wanted to keep the website quite simple as i didn't want to over shadow the art work. I used Materialize CSS to initially help with the responsiveness, but also had to adjust things myself especially after i added the Lightbox gallery section. The website is fully responsive using Html, CSS, Javascript and Materialize CSS.
